Synopsis: For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College Prep is more than a summer program—it’s a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. But when he arrives at the program, Dan learns that his dorm for the summer used to be a sanatorium, more commonly known as an asylum. And not just any asylum—a last resort for the criminally insane.
As Dan and his new friends, Abby and Jordan, explore the hidden recesses of their creepy summer home, they soon discover it’s no coincidence that the three of them ended up here. Because the asylum holds the key to a terrifying past. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.

MY RATING: 3.5 Starts

MY OPINION:

I wanted this book for a long time… I would say that I wanted this book since the moment I started reading in english… yes because as you may know I don’t read in my native language.

I totally love horror books, thrillers, mysteries… and this book got me right at the first time I saw it, just come on… look at that cover !

My problem here is: I got kind of bored while I was reading this book. I was not expecting to get bored reading it, I wanted some “action” I guess. I honestly thought that this book was going to be pretty scary… and I am not saying (at all) that this book isn’t scary… I mean, the literary part ISN’T scary at all, at least in my opinion because I think that I don’t get scared easily while reading a book (watching a horror movie… that’s another story)… but the pictures that are all over it? ok then… those are pretty creepy mate !

This book is totally NOT one of my baes… I mean, all of my books are my kids, but I don’t love this one… I wanted to love it, a LOT but I didn’t and I guess that I can’t change that. I got really disappointed with this book to be honest because I was expecting so much more from it, I was expecting an awesome story, an awesome plot and amazing characters… but I HATED those characters… I was getting crazy while reading this book because of those freaking characters (I am sorry, I know that a lot of you liked the characters… but that’s how I felt about them and I like to tell you the truth in my reviews).

Right now I can’t say that I am excited to read the second book… BUT of course that I will give it a try (maybe later, not exactly now), not only because it is already on my bookshelves, but because I want to know what’s going to happen from now on, and I am kind of expecting the second book to be better than this one ! Maybe it is, maybe it doesn’t… that’s exactly why I’ll surely have to read “Sanctum”.

Besides everything I said I gave to this book 3.5 stars which is kind of “3.4” because on Goodreads I rated “3 stars”… I guess that the main problem in this book was the way it was written… not my type of writting I guess !
