Title: The Kingdom of Assassins
Author: Erik Mackenzie
Genre: Thriller; Adult.

Synopsis: “When a raid on a terrorist cell leaves no survivors and few clues, New York City police have a problem: since the tip was anonymous, they have no idea why the terrorists were there.
Detective Mike Maclaymore has the impossible task of finding out what the cell was planning. When a Saudi princess shows up to ID one of the bodies, he knows this goes deeper than anyone feared. He and the princess pair up to learn the truth, neither sure they can trust the other.
The trail leads to a Saudi diplomat, beheaded in his apartment. And to a shadowy figure from Mike’s past as a Black Ops soldier in wartime Afghanistan—a warlord hunted by all sides, and caught by none.
Now Mike races to uncover his identity, and stop an attack that will destroy New York City—and then the U.S. economy. “
MY RATING: 1 Start
* The author of this book sent me this signed paperback copy in exchange for an honest review, so don’t expect less than that, I will always give my honest opinion, like it or not *
So I am always honest when I am reviewing a book and this time will not be an exeption… I feel pretty bad saying some stuff that you’ll read in this review because this book was given to me by the author, and I know that this author really wanted me to like the book and I feel sad because I didn’t and I honestly don’t want to “hurt his feelings”… I don’t really how to explain this to you but I guess you understand.
Before I continue I have to say that I tried really hard to like this book BUT once again I didn’t… I am not saying that this book is bad ok? I am saying that maybe it is just not my type of book… I wanted to like it and you’ll probably like it more than I did because I was searching earlier on Goodreads and I saw some reviews for this book and they weren’t all that bad… I didn’t like it… so what? some people did and I really hope you can have the chance to buy this book and to read it and to enjoy it.
First things first… I found the beginning of the book kind of slow but it actually gets better, even if I gave to this book 1 stars I recognize that it gets better at some point. There’s a part of the book that is actually interesting, I mean, it’s like that point of the story where I could actually enjoy the reading a little bit.
This book is a thriller about terrorism and about military stuff and it covers a detective/policeman that is investigating a terrorist cell. This book is passed ten years from now and there are some characters such as a princess who may actually help him find who killed his son and there’s also a prince. Actually I can’t tell you a lot about the plot because I may spoil you and I don’t really want to do that.
There’s two things that I found really good about this book and one of those things is that you can totally notice that there was some research in order to write this book correctly and there’s a lot of description in this book… I like when I can notice that kind of stuff reading a book; and the second thing is that the characters were not that bad and at the end of the book you can totally notice the development of the main characters.
Once again I need to say that this was just my opinion and maybe if you like this kind of book you should totally give it a try. We all think differently and I am sure that a lot of people will have a different opinion from mine… so if you are interested in this book just buy it and forget what I said because if you want to read something you should totally read it even if a lot of people say that the book isn’t good (which is not the case because it has really great score on Goodreads).
