Synopsis: “Alexa Morgan lost her mother when she was two. At eighteen, her father and stepmother died when a devastating earthquake hit the Bay Area. Only one person has remained a constant in her life: Devin.
Devin has been Alexa’s best friend since childhood. The two are inseparable – or they were until Devin declared his love for her at sixteen. When Alexa can offer him only friendship in return, Devin retreats, brokenhearted.
Alexa, on the other hand, longs for Ethan, the boy next door. Four years older than her, and with an ever-changing roster of girlfriends, Ethan is everything Devin isn’t: wild, sensual, and unpredictable.
In the aftermath of the deadly earthquake, Ethan makes his move on Alexa, who reciprocates in a confused whirl of grief and desire. When Ethan leaves town the next day, Devin comes back into Alexa’s life, offering support and expecting nothing in return.
Alexa begins to see the advantages of Devin’s quiet, stable love. Can she get past the friendship hang-up while trying to forget bad boy Ethan? It’s a choice that changes her life forever.“
MY RATING: 2.5 Starts
* The author of this book sent me this copy in exchange for an honest review, so don’t expect less than that, I will always give my honest opinion, like it or not *
When I started reading this book I was like… ok, the main character is just too young, she’s 12 years old now and it will get better because she’ll grow up and she’ll have a brain eventually when she’s 18 years old… but I was totally wrong, since the beginning of this book to the end I never liked the main character, not even once… she’s so childish and the way the acted the whole book ? come on girl, just keep it together.
Basically this book is about a triangle… before you countinue reading this review note this please: I’m not here to offend anyone so please don’t feel like that, I gave 2.5 stars to this book (3 on Goodreads) so I am just expressing my opnion about this story I am not saying that I hated it, I just have a lot of stuff “against” it.
As I said before this book is about a triangle, which is really lame because triangles are EVERY FREAKING WHERE right now… and I could accept this triangle if it was a good one, if it was that kind of triangles with cute couples in it and bla bla bla, but it is not.
First of all… there are 3 characters in this triangle (of course… it is a triangle, not a square), and from those three characters I like one of them ok? There is Alexa (the main character), freaking annoying Devin (Alexa’s best friend) and lovely Ethan (the boy next door)… so as you may have noticed the one I like is Ethan.
Second… Alexa is a b*tch, sorry girl, you know you are… so basically this character just turned 18 years old and the only thing the can think about is SEX… I am almost 20 years old and I still think about watching Disney movies, I turn on my TV every morning to watch Doraemon or any animation program that is rolling on TV… so do you think she’s normal ?! I don’t (or maybe I am the one who’s not normal, I don’t really know)… also her parents just died, come on (this is not spoiler because you can read it in the synopsis of the book on Goodreads), how in the hell can she be so cold about it ?…
I honestly was expecting kinky parts in this book, of course I was because it is a NA romance ok ? I am not that prude… but I was also expecting emotion because something sad happened, and I can’t just understand Alexa’s point of view… maybe the way she acts is exactly the reflextion of what happened and because she’s so young, but I would not react like her so I just can’t understand.
Now I want to say something good about this book because it was not all that bad… let’s be honest here and not so critical.
Of course that I hated two of the characters but I said before I loved one of them and that’s basically why I kind of enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the parts where Ethan was… I really liked this character and maybe he’ll appear more in the second book but I wanted more of him in this book actually because I am not sure if I am going to read the second one yet… it is just not a priority right now.
Another thing that I wanted to say about this book is that I really liked the way this author wrote this book… and by that I mean, I like her type of writting… I really do because it is really simple and you can read really fast, at least I did, I finished this book really fast, it took me less than 2 hours.
So finishing this review I wanted to tell you that even if I am not the biggest fan of this book there’s a chance you end up liking it, so if you are interested in this story just give it a try.
