Title: A Mess of Reason
Author: A. Wilding Wells
Genre: Adult; Contemporary; Romance.
Goodreads Synopsis: ““Scout Steele is the country music star People magazine just voted “sexiest bachelor”. More than that, he’s my best friend forever, my bff. OK, not quite my lingo – I’m almost thirty. We’ve shared everything, and then some. Even crossed the line a few times, but not too far. Well, mostly…. He’ll go to the end of the world to make me happy; he knows me inside and out. Except, that is, my most intimate and darkest defect; this he must never know. It would ruin us, and ‘us’ is the only thing that matters. So I’m marrying someone who doesn’t care about the truth or, frankly, even me.”
“She’s twisted and sexy as all get out. Brilliant and beautiful, Tess Harlow is my best friend and my forbidden fruit – the woman I’ve always known and loved the best but can never have. Between my tours (and sexy groupies) and her man-juggling, we’ve never found “our time”. I love her to pieces but she’s about to marry the bane of my existence, rocker Creed Luce. He’s a walking cliché and he treats my Tess like hell – why she stays with him I still haven’t figured out. I am always there for her…but not this time. Tess deserves better, way better, my better. The door is half-open and I have my ways. Her best friend is about to become her best lover.”“
MY RATING: 3.5 Starts
* The author of this book sent me this paperback copy in exchange for an honest review, so don’t expect less than that, I will always give my honest opinion, like it or not *
I actually liked this book, as you can see I gave it 3.5 Stars (on Goodreads, because there’s no 1/2 rating, I gave it 3 Stars), but I feel like there’s something missing… I mean, I liked it but I didn’t love it.
To be honest the beginning of the book was just “ok”, it was kind of forced in my opinion if you know what I mean, it was like “baby” here “gorgeous” there… kind of too cheesy you know ? Like there’s a boy and a girl and they are best friends and they just talk to each other like that… not exactly what I was expecting, I was probably expecting something more “luxurious” I guess, some sexy mystery, I don’t know… maybe it is me.
I enjoyed the book and I can’t lie about that, I actually was really into it sometimes but there were other times that I was just “what the hell is happening ?” there were parts that were basically sex language, no that was not a mistake, I meant SEX LANGUAGE and not sexy language, and that’s the problem for me, I was probably expecting more sexyness from this book and not pages without story content… there was lack of story in my point of view, I wanted more.
The characters, I liked a lot Rox and I liked Scout but I really didn’t like Tess… not my kind of girl.
I am sorry if by any means I offended the author, that was not my intention at all I just wanted to give my honest opinion about the book because that’s what I was asked to do. I liked the book that’s why I gave it the rating I gave, but I wanted to explain why I didn’t give to this book more than 3.5 Stars.
