Goodreads Synopsis: Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up – she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

MY RATING: 5.5 Starts

MY OPINION:

I am broken, Colleen Hoover just broke me.

Before I read this book I had 2 favorite books by her, my favorites were “November 9” and “Confess” and honestly while reading the first 100 pages of this book I was like “why in the holy hell people say this was her best book ? It is a normal story with a normal romance and normal characters”… I was so wrong !

The beginning is just “ok”, you get to know the characters (or at least you think you know the characters) and then you just have it, a romance, a pretty romance… but no, this book is not a pretty romance, you can’t really expect that from it.

While I was reading it I knew something was going to happen, before I got to the page 100 (approximately) I already knew one of the “dirty secrets” related with this story, I already knew that something that happens in the beginning of the book would be coming back with another version of the story, but only when something really bad happens… there’s something that happens (that I can’t tell you because this is a non spoiler review) that made feel so, but so bad, I got so sad reading what someone did because I already knew that what that character did would not stop there, I just knew it and I felt so sad about it, my heart was just “crying” because I didn’t want that to happen, I really didn’t want that to happen, it was just like someone was throwing stones at me you know ? I didn’t want to hate a character that I loved and I kind of still like that character but I feel bad for liking that person, I truly do and I can’t tell you why, so PLEASE if you want a review with SPOILERS just tell me because I need to yell everything I am feeling right now !

This book is my favorite Colleen Hoover book so far and I’ll tell you why. I don’t relate with this story, I never went through anything that is decribed in this book but when CoHo wrote this book she told everyone that it was a personal story, she told everyone that it was all about “her life” and when I was reading this AMAZING story I was trying to relate the story to whatever she went through and I didn’t want to think that she actually went through something so horrible like what happens in this book. When I finished this book I was crying my eye balls out, I really was, I got to the point where I was actually sobbing and I don’t cry with books, I didn’t even shed a tear when I read, for example “Me Before You” and I gave you this example because everyone cried with that book , I am just not that kind of person you know ? But this book made me think of a lot of things and about how people need to be strong sometimes and how some people in this world are going through the kind of thing that happened in this book, how some people need to be so strong to do what they really need to do and how some people just need to think with their head and not with their heart when US, people that don’t know what that kind of suffering is, just knows how to “criticize” and say “I would do that differently, I would never accept that” which is actually what happens to one of the characters in this book. BUT GUYS, what made me sob even harder was the author’s note, it broke my heart to finally understand why Colleen Hoover was so deeply related with this story… it was just, jeez, it blew my mind and I got so sad, I am still sad right now and I still want to cry.. I WANT TO CRY WHILE WRITTING THIS REVIEW ! And this book explains you exacly what “It Ends With Us” means, just before the Epilogue.

I really don’t want to spoil you and believe me when I say that I still have a lot to share with you about by experience reading this book, but I can’t because if I do I’ll truly spoil you and I don’t want that at all!

I recommend this book to everyone, EVERYONE really, I think that we all should read this book because we all need to know what happens inside some stories and not only what we see from the outside.

  1. I’m ashamed to say that I have not read a single CoHo book because I didn’t think it was my cup of tea but with all the praise and hype for this, I might give this a go! Or, which CoHo book would you recommend for a newbie? (:
